Erin Reed | “Liz”

erin-reedAfter graduating with high honors in English and Theatre from the University of Texas, Erin Reed surprised everyone by doing something even more irrational: she not only enrolled in law school, but also began taking “golf lessons” from her then-boyfriend, who believed that learning to play would further her career.  But can you blame her?  We’ve all been there—that blissfully ignorant age when everything seems possible and nothing sounds appealing, otherwise known as your 20s.  And she did learn a lot, actually.  She learned that her favorite club was her 7-iron and that whiskey-and-cokes taste better out of Styrofoam cups.  She also learned that swearing was invented by the first golfers, so she practiced her profanity.  A lot.  Loudly.  Then there were the perks, like that John Daly–trademarked driver cover that looked like a lion with rainbow-colored dreadlocks.  Swinging jauntily from her bag as her cart jangled down the path, ol’ J.D. sure looked cute, in a maniacal Rastafarian kind of way.

Well, nothing lasts forever, and Erin later wised up and began following her true passion—i.e., acting—an endeavor she thought she might actually be good at.  And you know what?  The universe (being the prankster that it is) brought everything full circle: Erin eventually found herself auditioning for FORE!  Naturally, she blew them away, what with her “amazing swing” and penchant for telling preposterous hole-in-one stories, so they cast her.  And now, instead of schmoozing with clients on the course, she gets to schmooze with her co-stars and other somewhat important people, like the producer and director.  Oh, and the occasional golf pro and sportswriter.  So thank you, ex-boyfriend; I guess you were right about something.

Erin appears regularly on both stage and screen.  Her recent projects include working with Nicolas Cage in David Gordon Green’s forthcoming feature film, Joe.
